Check Table A in the Regulations section of the AMEB Manual of Syllabuses for the equivalence of written exams taken with alternate examining authorities. It is the responsibility of the candidate to provide proof of the written exam result if undertaken outside of AMEB (NSW). The practical certificate will be posted to the enrolling person approximately one week after the written certificate has been issued. The additional requirement does not need to be completed before the practical exam and there is no time limit in which to pass the written exam after the practical exam. Theoretical knowledge of music is an expectation of higher practical exams and this study will assist practical music students to perform with greater musicality and an understanding of musical concepts, periods and styles.

In the following practical music exams, for both the Comprehensive and Repertoire format, an additional written exam is required to complete the exam and release the exam certificate.
